Kabetogama

Getting close to time to leave on our big trip of the year.
Not as long as recent years, at 1 week plus travel, but special indeed. Carol's family has gone to Pine Aire Resort on Lake Kabetogama, in Voyaguers national park in Norethern Minnesota, for 3 generations. Really, her Grampa took them there when she was a little girl.

Our family has been there many many times, but less often in recent years, and not at all in 4 or 5. We decided to explore different places, and we'll continue to do that, but this year, we're going "home"
It was mostly my family, and Carol's sister Lori's who've done "Kab." Lori and Phil especially, I don't think they have ever missed a year, and some years they have gone twice. The others, not as much. It's particularly hard with Ron and I, he's my right hand in the business, and we really can't be gone at the same time. Once that I recall, and I broke my leg that year.

Anyway, this year, Carol's Brother Ken, wife Shannon, and Kayla and Andrew are going. When we heard that, we signed on in a heartbeat. Best news is Pine Aire resort has expanded thier campground, and they have room for my new super bus, LAKESIDE since I reserved early.

Anyway, I can't wait... We leave next Friday morning, and I brought the bus home thios afternoon to get ready... Now we're pretty good at this camping stuff these days, we get ready in a couple hours.... sigh.
Actually, don't tell anyone, but I'm sitting in my driveway in the bus, a/c roaring and nascar XM on the satelite radio.

I don't feel bad tho. Kayla is more excited than me, she's only been there once, and she was too little to remember it. To her, it's just this mythical place that me and her Dad talk about a lot.

Still dreaming abouit Denver...

Hi blog, long time no post. I'm still dreaming about leaving the flatlands behind, tho I'm not sure when that might be. We're just wrapping up the time of year we spend with family, it's tough to even think about leaving this time of year. Last weekend we were at Ken and Shannon's for the bears game, going there this weekend as well. I've always liked Ken, though He's not aging well. Shannon is the best, and I'm very close to their kids, especially my best girl Kayla. she's gonna help my BBQ Ribs Sunday, we'll have fun.

Carol and I have been going to the RV shows, 2 in the past 2 weekends. We could go to the South Bend show, but she has a photo shoot Saturday. I'm gonna see what there 8r is for the following weekend. The big show in Rosemont is coming up in a few weeks, and after that it's almost March and spring is just around the corner.

This year, we're killing 2 birds with one stone vacation wise. Back "before rving" we used to go to Pine Aire Resort in kabetogama, MN, for a week every summer. I'd actually bought a fishing boat, once a year we took it up there, the rest of the time we paid to store it. Anyway, this is a place right out of the movines, Carol's grandparents went there, her parents took them there when they were kids, we went there with her parents after we got married, and we've taken our kids there since they couldn't even walk.

Lori and Phil go there religiously. We've skipped out some, been every other year for a decade, and we haven't been here for at least 4 years. Ken's wanted to go back there for a long time, he has these childhood memories, and when we heard they were going, we decided to go too. So we get the best of both worlds, we're taking our RV and camping at Pine Aire!!!

Finally and sadly, we won't be seeing Mark, Sandra, Danielle, and Shelby this summer. Not sure "what's up with that," but after half a decade, Mark and Sandra have decided they have better things to do. Hopefully, we'll get back on track next year. I'll miss them all a lot.

Gonna try to post on this more often, for now, see ya soon,

Jim
